University Hospitals has put out a call for homemade face masks, and if you can sew, you can answer that call!
Local sewing shop Pins & Needles has free pre-cut mask kits available for sewers to assemble and return to their store at Middleburg Heights. Reach out to Pastor Vicki if you would like kits dropped off or picked up by WorKship volunteers.
Some have debated the effectiveness of homemade masks as opposed to the mass-produced N95 ones that are standard PPE (personal protective equipment) for medical workers. While it is true they are less effective, studies have discovered they do provide definite protection (something is better than nothing).
In short, follow the instructions in the kit, and watch this tutorial. With a worldwide PPE shortage, we can step up and give our doctors and nurses a bit of help. Thank you for supporting our heroes out in the field!
