Third Sunday after Pentecost

Psalm 77:1-2; 11-20  Galatians 5:1; 13-25
Christ as liberator is a common theme in Paul’s letters.  Paul speaks of freedom but cautions us about being too jubilant with the idea of freedom. With freedom comes responsibility.  We must make our own choices and evaluate the data and potential consequences.  We face the struggles against those who see freedom as opportunities for individualism and self-centeredness. We want freedom to mean liberation for all, but not everyone has the outlook of the greater good for humankind and creation.  Freedom in Christ comes with some expectations and some hard choices.
