Children & Youth

Raising up people who value faith, community, compassion, and hospitality

Nursery Care

The nursery is staffed every Sunday by our infant first aid- and CPR-certified caregiver who will provide loving attention to your infants and children through age 4 from 9:30 – noon.

K-5 Sunday School

Sunday school is important at MHCUCC. All are welcome, and we offer a safe, inclusive environment for children. Our Sunday School teachers offer interactive sessions to help children deepen their connection in our church community and explore how their faith can help them navigate their world.

First Sundays of the month (Communion Sunday) children K-5 are encouraged to attend worship with their families. Second and fourth Sundays are dedicated to traditional Sunday School experiences after the Children’s Message in the main service. Third Sundays are for community service projects along with the older youth.

Youth Group

Teaching our children to be compassionate and service-oriented people of faith is one of our core values. We have youth events for grades 6 – 12. ALL kids are welcome. The events are great opportunities for kids to meet up, make friends, and help others.

First Sundays of the month we have Breakfast Bunch at 10:30 am, where we cook our meal and enjoy eating it together. Second and fourth Sundays the teens are usually in the worship service with their families. Third Sundays they work with the younger kids to do community service projects.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the portion of a young person’s lifelong faith journey during which they begin to form their own views about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, mission and the church. It is their chance to say “yes” to the promises their parents made at their baptism and for the church to say “yes” to their growing faith. Confirmation is an 18-month commitment of learning, questioning and exploring that usually begins in middle school and culminates in the rite of confirmation, generally held on Pentecost. The next confirmation class will start in spring 2023 and confirmation will be on Pentecost, May 19th, 2024.
