to begin our transformation towards becoming a congregation that promotes and embraces racial equity. In an effort to meet each person where they are on this journey, we are offering a variety of opportunities. Please review the options below, determine which ones resonate with you, then use SignUpGenius to reserve your spot. All groups will meet via Zoom. 

study groups & book discussions

Online Study Group:
Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5 PM
OR Thursdays from 6:30 - 8 PM

A bold, meaningful and substantive curriculum that invites participants into deep conversations on race. White Privilege: Let’s Talk will combine webinar presentations with engaging conversations on topics of white privilege including Whiteness as the Norm, Becoming an Ally and Creating a Spiritual Autobiography as told through the lens of race.

Because of the intimate and trust-based nature of these sessions, a commitment to all six sessions is required.

  • Group 1: 9/9, 9/23, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4 & 11/18
  • Group 2: 9/10, 9/24, 10/8,. 10/22, 11/5 & 11/19
  • Group 3: 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12 & 12/3

Book Discussions:
9:30 - 11 AM one Saturday per month on
9/12, 10/10 & 11/14

Read Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race, Debby Irving’s provocative book about growing up white in an upper middle class neighborhood and never giving thought to race. After taking a graduate course in “Race and Cultural Identity,” Irving began to realize how much she benefited from race and wrote about her discoveries and how she began to question her long held assumptions about race and culture.

  • September 12 – discuss introduction through chapter 16
  • October 10 – discuss chapters 17 – 33
  • November 14 – discuss chapters 34 – 46 and “Tell Me What to Do”
