Outreach & Justice

Working to bring God’s will on earth: justice, mercy, equity, inclusion

“What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” These words from Micah 6:8 seem simple, but our world has complicated how to live these out. From natural disasters, disease, and famine to unjust systems that marginalize and oppress based on all kinds of -isms, there is much for us to do to see the prayer of Jesus – “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” – come to reality for more of God’s creation.

We take this work seriously and frequently have projects large and small, short- and long-term, to serve our community and the world.

WorKship Sundays

We believe worship can happen anywhere, in a sanctuary or in a shelter, by singing praises or by baking cookies, with other church members or complete strangers. We live out this idea by dedicating the fifth Sunday of the month – which happens just a few times a year – by spending the day caring for our neighbors in variety of ways. Join us!

Lotts Creek, KY Mission Trips

Lotts Creek, a community in rural SE Kentucky, is where members and friends of MHCUCC have traveled for over 20 years to lend a helping hand and slowly work to eliminate poverty housing. Adding a bathroom, a ramp or sometimes a room addition makes a big difference for a family. We always “get more than we give” and we learn so much.

Partner Organizations

Second Mile Outreach

Food justice happens when people have enough to eat. Beyond our own Litte Food Pantry, we work closely with this nonprofit that serves over 70 zip codes and thousands of people each year to feed, clothe, and provide for our neighbors.

Greater Cleveland Congregations

Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC) is a non-partisan organization of faith communities and partner organizations in Cuyahoga County working together to build power for social justice.

Lotts Creek Community School

Besides their mission of “bringing hope and opportunity to mountain youth,” this school does much more than educate. This nonprofit also helps us organize our annual mission trip to the rural southeast KY region.
